Greetings!  It's been over 2 decades since I got my license - something that I decided to do immediately after buying my first home.  I became disenchanted with the homebuying process after learning that my agent's purpose was to represent THE DEAL, and NOT to represent ME within that deal!  He thought that I was paying him to ram the transaction through escrow by any means; I thought I was paying him to aggressively prosecute MY interests.  THAT'S a whole lot of differing motivation!!!
